Wendover Air Show in Wendover, Nevada--September 2009

Utah Helicopter made its annual appearance at the Wendover Air Show in Nevada.  Scott Banning and Mindy Braithwaite flew in on one of our Robinson R-44's and spent the weekend telling people attending the show about our flight school and program and also accumulating hours in the air.  "We throughly enjoyed the opportunity to represent Utah Helicopter at the air show held in Wendover on Sept 26th. It provided a means of demonstrating what we have to offer to the aviation industry. There were many aviation enthusiasts present, but because helicopters are a relatively small portion of the industry, many were not overly familiar with our type of operation. Many people have not had an opportunity to see a helicopter up close, and interest was high to see our aircraft, sit in the seat, and talk with "real" helicopter pilots. We were able to interact with an array people: from veteran pilots to small children who dream of one day doing what we do. Not only were we able to interact with the public, but this was also an opportunity to mingle with other helicopter training schools who were present."

"I was excited to be able to attend the Wendover air show. I am currently working to complete my CFII certification, and this was a great way to get back into the R44. It was a great show, and it allowed me the opportunity to talk with a lot of different people who are just as excited about aviation as I am. This was also a great opportunity for me to demonstrate that flight is an exciting and viable career option for women. There is a limited number of female pilots out there, and I believe some people were surprised and intrigued to talk with someone who is just that." Mindy Braithwithe
